The Greenstone Track

Greenstone Carpark to Greenstone Hut

page 3

A recent arrival...

More superhighway

A small grotto provides sufficient water for a patch of lush ferns, moss, and seedlings.

And here's one you can stop by for a few minutes, because sometimes stopping is more important than getting there.

Dwarves at work?

Onwards.

Here's another one of these strange barriers. Not cattle, because any self respecting beast will take itself four metres to the right and walk around. Bikes you could lift over easily. Motor bikes or quad bikes? Where would they come from as there are other similar barriers down the track a way on either side?

We're out in the open again for a bit

When I think about the kind of forces needed to move this landscape around I never fail to shake my head in wonderment.

We're in and out of the bush for a bit.

until the track takes us back down to the river.

It's growing into a hot day.

I think it's time for a cool off.

Oooooogh that's nice.

Just down the way a little is Slip Flat

and the river crossing doesn't strike us as anything special

but obviously there are times when it is....
